Belgian Diet

belgiandiet_mainBelgians are known for their proper diet. It is therefore not surprising that the Belgian chef Maurice Vermersch was responsible for the creation of Belgian waffles in the 1950s. The culinary specialist originally called them Brussels waffles. However, this was a difficult name to pronounce and many people didn’t know where Brussels was. So, it was decided to change the name to “Belgian Waffles”.

Belgian DietBelgians prefer the healthier version of Belgian waffles. This is the basis for the famous Belgian diet consisting of only one week of eating salted Belgian waffles. Fashiongton Post shares with you this easy recipe that has already become legendary.

How To Cook Belgian Waffles

Ingredients:

  • A pinch of salt
  • Wheat flour weighing 175 grams
  • 2 eggs;
  • 100 milliliters milk
  • One tablespoon of mayonnaise
  • 30 grams of butter
  • Cherry tomatoes, bacon or chicken fillet can be added as toppings.

Recipe:

You will need to first beat the eggs. Then add the milk and flour sifted. Mix everything until smooth. Add a pinch of mayonnaise and salt. Mix all ingredients well. Butter is required to grease the panel on a waffle iron that has been pre-heated so the waffles don’t stick. With chicken fillets, bacon, or cheese you can enjoy salty waffles. For added freshness, you can add a tomato or lettuce leaf. You can choose any of the toppings above according to your preference and taste. Good food!Belgian Diet
