Swiss luxury watches brand Radio has released a new model of watch made from black polished high-tech Ceramic and designed by Ayako, a Japanese designer and food artist.
Ayako is inspired by “conceptual foods”. She explores the influence of aesthetics from different cuisines on art through the Food Creation Project. Rado’s True Thinline Toge is inspired by the deadly pufferfish. The word “toge”, which means “thorn”, in Japanese, was also used to describe the watch. Ayako Suwa says that due to its taste and people’s long-standing attraction to the beauty of this fish, fugu has become a main delicacy in Japan.
This amazing collaboration between Rado & Ayako Suwa has resulted in a black watch whose dial mimics the roughness of the fugu skin. The golden hands were created by scanning real pufferfish needles. The Rado True Thinline Toge is a limited-edition watch, with only 1,001 pieces.
